Regis Drops to JWU, 15-4

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Regis College lost to Johnson and Wales University, 15-4, Tuesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse match at Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Center.

The Pride scored first at 12:51 in the first quarter with Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) finding the back of the net for her 10th goal this season.  The Wildcats responded with five goals to finish out the first quarter leading, 5-1.

Less than thirty seconds into the second quarter, Madeline Gould scored a power play goal for Johnson and Wales after receiving a pass from Isabella Nugent. The Wildcats extended their lead with five additional goals in the second quarter. With just eight seconds remaining in the first half, Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.) slipped a pass to Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.) to score the second Pride goal of the game, reducing the deficit to nine heading into the second half.

Mason scored the first goal of the third quarter for the Pride. The Wildcats responded just over two minutes later with a goal from Neely Conner made on a free position attempt to finish the third quarter leading 12-3.

The Wildcats went on a 3-1 scoring run in the fourth quarter to finish with a final of 15-4.

Mason led the Pride with two goals and five ground balls. Rogers and Alto scored one goal each, with Alto also earning an assist.

Maris DiBeneditto scored five goals for the Wildcats while Mila Kuilan scored three. Katie Sloan and Gould contributed to the victory, scoring two goals each.

Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) played the first half in net for the Pride making four saves, while Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) made seven saves in the second half.  

Regis (6-4, 2-3 GNAC) is set to host Elms College on Saturday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Regis Stadium. Johnson and Wales (6-3, 4-0 GNAC) is scheduled to host the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m.
