CRAWFORD AND MCNULT COMBINE TO LIFT REGIS COLLEGE TO VICTORY

Nashua, NH – Junior Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) notched a game high 19 points while Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H.) tallied a double double of 10 points and 18 rebounds guiding Regis College past host Daniel Webster College, 67-45 in a regional matchup of future conference rivals Wednesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) added 11 points as the Pride (2-0) took advantage of cold Eagle shooting and added an important 46-35 total advantage in rebounding in winning their second straight outing by identical scores.

Junior Sarah Paternostro (Glastonbury, Conn.) led the Eagles (1-1) with 12 points while junior Vanessa Bosques (N. Windham, Conn.) notched nine points and 11 boards. Junior Alycia Gervais (Windham, Conn.) added nine points and six rebounds.

The Eagles finished hitting 34-percent from the floor but went 0-for-17 from the arc and struggled at the line (5-16) while Regis buried four treys and was 17 of 24 from the charity stripe.

Regis trailed only once in the opening minute and built as much as a 13-point lead in the first half before an 8-1 Eagle run closed the gap to five (28-23) at the break.

A Paternostro layup opening the second cut the deficit to three, but a Stephanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.) trey and a Crawford layup helped push the lead back to eight and the Pride would grow the advantage to 11 after a Leah Murphy (Westborough, Mass.) jumper with 15:13 to go.

Trailing 46-36, back-to-back layups from Kacie Lang (Raymond, N.H.) and Paternostro and a jumper from Sarah Clark (Marlboro, Mass.) helped trim the lead to six (48-42) with 8:03 to go.

But a layup from Lauren Kimble and back-to-back inside moves from Ramonas combined with nine straight missed shots from the Eagles built a 9-0 run over the next five minutes as the lead ballooned to 17, icing the contest.

With the exception of the Eagles' cold shooting, the game finished even in assists (8-8), steals (11-11) and virtually tied in turnovers and committed fouls.

The Eagles are off until next Tuesday when they host Endicott College in a regional matchup tipping off at 5:00 p.m.
