Michael Curtis Named GNAC Men’s Swim & Dive Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - After a record-setting performance off the diving board Saturday, first-year competitor Michael Curtis (Burlington, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, Nov. 21, by the league office.

Against Saint Joseph's College Saturday, Curtis started his day by finishing in fourth place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.59 seconds. He then completed the five-dive portion of one meter diving with a total score of 119.75, almost 32 full points higher than his score the previous week.

In the six-dive section for one meter diving, Curtis broke the school record he established Oct. 8 with a score of 161.45, 37.3 points higher than the previous standard. He ended up with a new 11-dive Regis record with a total score of 281.20, breaking the prior school record set 13 years ago.

Regis College is back in action when the Pride host Elms College Friday evening, Dec. 2, starting at 6 p.m. at the Regis Pool.
