PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Regis College women's swimming and diving team won a majority of the events Friday night to prevail over Plymouth State University, 136-117, while the men's squad picked up seven event victories, but fell to the Panthers, 105-85, in a collegiate dual meet at the PSU Natatorium.
Once again, Kali Taylor (Brattleboro, Vt.) led the way for the Pride, starting with a blistering 50 free split of 27.72 seconds as Regis cruised to victory in the 200 medley relay with an overall time of 2:07.72. Taylor then touched the wall first in three individual events: the 200 freestyle in 2:10.17, the 50 freestyle in 27.93 seconds, and the 500 freestyle in 6:03.71.
Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.) picked up two individual victories, winning the 50 breaststroke in 35.95 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.07. Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) finished first in the 200 individual medley by 24/100ths of a second with a time of 2:35.81, and Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) won the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:13.63.
Aptt also finished second in the 50 backstroke in 32.83 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:10.80, while Hubster placed second in both the 200 freestyle in 2:22.26 and the 100 freestyle in 1:07.09.
Abby Parker (Peru, Mass.) finished second in the 50 breaststroke in 38.44 seconds, 0.16 seconds ahead of third place and 0.24 seconds in front of Sophia Nylin (Malden, Mass.) in 38.68 seconds. Jenna Silva (New Bedford, Mass.) helped the Pride stay ahead of the Panthers by finishing second in the 50 butterfly in 33.73 seconds and third in the 100 individual medley in 1:19.40.
On the men's side, Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) collected three event victories, finishing first in the 100 butterfly in 57.26 seconds, the 50 butterfly in 25.69 seconds, and the 100 individual medley in 1:01.33, out-touching his closest competitor by 14/100ths of a second.
Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) placed first in the 50 backstroke in 29.09 seconds, 0.22 seconds in front of second place, and the 50 freestyle in 24.13 seconds. Josh Dion posted a season-best time of 2:35.85 in the 200 individual medley and competed in one-meter diving for the first time in college, earning a five-dive score of 110.17.
After four straight meets away from home, Regis College welcomes Saint Joseph's College for a dual meet for both the men and the women and the UMass Dartmouth women next Friday, Nov. 8, starting at 6 p.m.
