LUONG, UNAS LEAD REGIS MEN’S SWIMMING OVER COLBY-SAWYER, 144-74

WESTON, Mass. - Junior Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) and freshman Joshua Unas (Santa Clara, Calif.) each scored 27 points with three first place finishes apiece to lead the Regis College men's swimming team to a 144-74 victory over visiting Colby-Sawyer College this afternoon in Weston, Mass. The Pride improve to a perfect 6-0, while the Chargers fall to 0-4.

Unas pulled off the impressive feat of taking first place in three different strokes on the afternoon for Regis. He placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.24, before finishing ahead of the field in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 56.99. He capped his individual day with a first-place effort in the 100-yard breaststroke on a time of 1:06.30. Luong won both backstroke events, clocking in at 26.53 in the 50-yard race, before winning the 100-yard event in 59.09. His final individual race saw him touch the wall first in the 50-yard butterfly at 24.49.

Junior Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.) was also a multiple winner, leading the Pride to a sweep of the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.34. He came back later in the meet to win the 100-yard freestyle in 54.34. Junior Bryan Johnson (Sudbury, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) also captured first place finishes for Regis. Johnson finished ahead of the field in the 50-yard breaststroke with a mark of 29.56, while Bruno won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:34.93.

The Pride opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with Luong, Unas, sophomore Nick Rainville, (Reading, Mass.) and junior Rob Ekberg (Northbridge, Mass.) combining for a time of 1:45.80.

Colby-Sawyer senior Devin Uhlman (Norwell, Mass.) broke up the home team's string of first place efforts with a win in the 200-yard individual medley on a time of 2:13.97. The Chargers also scored with a first-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay to close out the meet. Junior Josh Paszczuk (Newington, Conn.), sophomore Mason Amitrano (West Greenwich, R.I.), junior Jameson Ploch (Old Town, Maine) and junior Brett Cayer (Newington, Conn.) turned in a time of 1:37.98 to finish first.

Regis returns to the pool on January 23, visiting Chicopee, Mass. to swim against Elms College at 11:00 a.m., while Colby-Sawyer hosts Gordon College on that day at 1:00 p.m.
