WINTHROP, Mass. - Two days ahead of its 2017-18 season opener, the Regis (Mass.) men's basketball team has finished sixth in its first ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday.
The defending conference champions from Albertus Magnus College took the top spot in the poll, finishing with nine of a possible 11 first place votes to grab 118 points. Johnson & Wales and Mount Ida each picked up one of the two remaining first place votes to finish second and third in the poll respectively.
Saint Joseph's (Me.) and Lasell, with 83 and 79 points, also finished ahead of the Pride, which picked up 62 points in the poll. Emmanuel College and Norwich University rounded out the GNAC's top eight.
The Pride opens its 2017-18 season on Wednesday night with a road trip to Wheaton at 8:00 p.m. The home opener for the Pride will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m. as Regis hosts Framingham State, and a week later, on Nov. 28, the Pride will plays its first ever GNAC game as it hosts Anna Maria at Higgins Court.
