Pride Drops Fourth Straight in Loss to Wheelock

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's basketball team saw its losing streak run to four on Thursday night as the Pride fell to Wheelock College by a final of 81-55 in New England Collegiate Conference play at Higgins Court.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-10 (5-4 NECC) on the year, while the Pride drops to 6-12 (3-6 NECC).

From the start of the night, the Pride was unable to cope with strong shooting from the Wildcats. Wheelock hit 15-of-29 (52%) field goals in the opening half to take a 37-29 lead into the break.

It was the Pride's shooting woes in the second half, however that really did them in. While the Wildcats shot 58% in the second half, the Pride shot just 38% and fell out of reach. In addition, the Pride turned the ball over 18 times, and the Wildcats made them pay. Wheelock scored 28 points off Pride turnovers on the evening.

Wheelock was led by the impressive stat line of senior guard Nicholas Fenton (East Hartford, Conn.), who scored a game-high 29 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds. Overshadowed by Fenton's big night, his classmate Anthony Williams (White Plains, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) was the Pride's high point man, scoring 14 points and adding eight rebounds in the loss, while freshman Dimitri Rosa (Tiverton, R.I.) scored a career-high 12 points on 4-for-7 three-point shooting off the bench.

Next up for the Pride, they will continue their brief three-game homestand by hosting Daniel Webster on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Wildcats will get weekend off before returning to the hardwood to host Lesley next Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.
