PRIDE GRAB #2 SEED, EARN 1ST ROUND BYE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's basketball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball tournament, it was announced on Sunday night. The Pride has earned a bye and will play in the NECC Semifinals next Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at Southern Vermont College.

The Pride posted a program record for wins in a season by going 17-8 this year, including a 12-4 mark in NECC games. They will take on the winner of the #6 Daniel Webster College and #3 Elms College NECC First Round matchup on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m.

Regis swept the season series from the Eagles, winning in Nashua, N.H., 67-57 back in December and following that up with a 64-58 win here in Weston, Mass. on January 31. The Pride split the season series with Elms, falling in triple-overtime to the Blazers back on January 17, 92-90, and avenged the defeat just over a week ago with a 71-55 victory in Chicopee, Mass.

Southern Vermont grabbed the top seed in the tournament by going a perfect 16-0 in NECC games. They will take on the winner of the #5 Mitchell College and #4 Becker College game scheduled for Tuesday night in Leicester, Mass. at 7:00 p.m.
