SAM JEAN-GILLES NAMED NECC ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College freshman Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Year, highlighting three NECC All-Conference selections for the Pride, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Osanto Marc Jr. (Kissimmee, Fla.) was named to the All-NECC First Team, while Jean-Gilles was joined on the All-NECC Honorable Mention Team by senior Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.).

Jean-Gilles helped lead the Pride (11-15) to their third-straight appearance in the NECC Semifinals en route to his Rookie of the Year honors. The freshman averaged 14.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game in 16 conference games played this season. The rookie shot 50.3% from the field on the season and ranks 13th in the league in scoring, ninth in FG%, 6th in rebounding, and 13th in steals in NECC games. Overall, Jean-Gilles led the Pride with eight double-doubles this season.

Osanto Marc Jr. earned First-Team honors this season after earning Second-Team accolades last season and an Honorable Mention nod in his freshman campaign. The junior guard averaged 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in 16 NECC contests for the Pride this season. Marc Jr. ranks 10th in the league in scoring, 11th in FG% (49.2%), 17th in rebounding, 9th in assists, and 16th in steals in conference play.

Senior co-captain Ryan Chambers rounded out the All-Conference nominations with an Honorable Mention selection for the second-straight year. Chambers averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 16 conference games played this season. He also finished sixth in the league with 43 three-pointers made and fourth in the league with a 41% mark from beyond the arc. He was also named to the NECC All-Tournament Team for the second time on Saturday afternoon.

Chambers graduates from Regis as the men's program's all-time leading scorer with 1,311 points scored. He is also the all-time leader in three pointers made with 260 and the all-time leader in career free throw percentage (78.9%). Chambers ranks inside the top-10 in career scoring average (12.2 ppg), rebounds (301), assists (137), and steals (119) as well.
