JEAN-GILLES NETS SECOND STRAIGHT ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONOR

WESTON, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, freshman Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) of the Regis College men's basketball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Jean-Gilles helped lead the Pride to a 2-0 record on the week after averaging 17 points, nine rebounds, and two steals per game.

The first-year forward notched his fifth-straight double-double off of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding three steals, in an 84-68 overtime win over Newbury on Thursday evening. He came up huge in the overtime period, as he scored 13 of his 23 points in extra time. Jean-Gilles finished the week with 11 points and eight rebounds in a 68-51 win over Lesley on Saturday afternoon.

Through 13 games played this season, Jean-Gilles is averaging a team-leading 15.6 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. He and the rest of the Pride (6-10, 5-3 NECC) return to action tomorrow evening when they host Daniel Webster at 7 p.m.
