PRIDE’S JEAN-GILLES NAMED NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College freshman Sam Jean-Gilles (Melrose, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Jean-Gilles helped lead the Pride (4-10, 3-3 NECC) to a 1-1 mark last week.

The freshman posted 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-68 setback to Elms. He ended the week with a career-high 23 points and 13 rebounds in a 71-62 win over Southern Vermont. The rookie forward averaged 20.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game and shot 54.8% from the field for the week.

Dating back to last week's games, Jean-Gilles has posted four-straight double-doubles and currently leads Regis in scoring (15.4 ppg), field goal percentage (49.3%), rebounding (9.8 rpg), and steals (1.6 spg).

Sam Jean-Gilles and the Regis College Pride return to action on Tuesday night with a 6:00 p.m. NECC game at Newbury College.
