PRIDE FALL TO HOST BANTAMS, 70-47

HARTFORD, Conn. – Sophomore Hart Gliedman (New York, N.Y.) and first-year Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) combined to shoot 8-11 from beyond the arc to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 70-47 win over the Regis College Pride in the consolation round of the Trinity College Men's Basketball Holiday Invitational on Stan Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium today.

Trinity improves to 5-6 with the win while Regis drops to 0-10.

In a game featuring two young teams, Trinity came out aggressive, taking a 23-7 lead just 12 minutes in on a three-pointer by Gliedman, his third of four three-pointers in the game. Trinity closed the half with a 40-21 advantage on 16-of-28 shooting, including 7-11 from three-point territory. The Bantams defensive presence was strong, limiting the Pride to 6-24 shooting in the opening stanza.

Regis opened the second half on a 6-3 run attempting to regain some ground, but Trinity did not let up, keeping the Pride at a distance. Regis sophomore guard Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.), playing in his second game of the season, made an impact, picking up 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half.

Regis went on an 8-0 run late in the second half, as a layup by Marc with 5:28 cut the lead to 18, but time was too thin for Regis to work their way into striking distance.

Starks finished the game with 15 points to lead the Bantams offensively, adding three steals and two assists in the game, while Hart finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Mickel Simpson (Woburn, Mass.) and first-year Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) netted ten points apiece for the Bantams, while senior captain Mick DiStasio (Yarmouth, Maine) grabbed seven boards, dished out 11 assists and picked up three steals and a block in the game.

Regis junior captain Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) netted eight points, including two treys, and added three steals, while Marc finished with seven rebounds to lead the Pride.

The Pride return to action on Wednesday night with a non-conference tilt at UMass-Dartmouth scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
