OSANTO MARC NAMED ALL-NECC HONORABLE MENTION

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College freshman Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) has been named to the All-New England Collegiate Conference Honorable Mention Team in men's basketball, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league offices. The Pride (11-16) were also awarded the league's Team Sportsmanship Award.

Osanto Marc and the Regis College Pride made their first appearance in the NECC postseason this year as the No. 6 overall seed. The Pride were the first six-seed to ever win an opening round game as Regis defeated #3 Wheelock College, 59-49, in the first round. The Pride advanced to the NECC Semifinals where they suffered a 50-45 setback to eventual runner-up Elms College.

The rookie Marc made an immediate impact as the freshman started 20 of a possible 22 games he played in this season. Marc was second on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game while averaging 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. The freshman also made a mark on defense, picking up 12 steals and adding six blocks in the 2011-2012 campaign.

Marc was named the NECC Rookie of the Week twice this season. Back in November, Marc garnered conference honors after scoring a career-high 22 points – including 15 in the second half and a pair of overtimes – to help the Pride defeat Tufts University, 80-77, in double-overtime. More recently, Marc was named the Rookie of the Week on February 6th after leading the Pride to a 1-1 week and scoring 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting in a 50-47 win over Daniel Webster.

NECC Champion Becker College took home a pair of awards as Terrance Favors (Boston, Mass.) was named the NECC Player of the Year, while head coach Brian Gorman was named the league's top coach. Mitchell's Joshua Ford (Jersey City, N.J.) was honored as the league's Rookie of the Year.
