PRIDE HOLD OFF EAGLES IN NECC MATCHUP

NASHUA, N.H. – The Regis College men's basketball team escaped with a 50-47 victory over Daniel Webster College in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup Tuesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium. Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) led the Pride (8-11, 5-5 NECC) with a game-high 17 points.

In a defensive battle through between two evenly matched clubs, only one player from each squad reached double figures. After the Pride's Marc, John Hickson (Springfield, Mass.) led the host Eagles (5-13, 4-6 NECC) with 14 points, including three three-pointers, and added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) added nine points for the visitors while LaQuinn Shuler (White Plains, N.Y.) added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Dave Schindewolf (Robbinsville, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and five boards for DWC.

Neither team held more than a five point lead all night. Regis held a three-point edge in the final moments and DWC set up for the tie in the closing seconds, but a three-point attempt just missed giving the Pride the victory.

Regis finished with a 33-28 total rebounding advantage. DWC shot 43-percent on the night while the Pride hit for 41-percent.

Regis hosts NECC foe Becker on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Eagles visit Newbury on Thursday in a NECC matchup tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
