CHAMBERS 15 POINTS NOT ENOUGH IN PRIDE SETBACK

NEW YORK, N.Y.Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) scored 15 points and grabbed three steals but Regis College fell to Clarkson University, 70-65, in the consolation game of the New York University Holiday Tournament on Tuesday night. The Pride fall to 3-7 in the setback and hope to right the ship on Saturday afternoon when Regis returns to NECC action with 2:00 p.m. game against Mitchell College.

Regis fell behind early in the first half but was able to rally and tie the game at 16 on a pair of Chambers free throws with 9:10 remaining in the frame. Lewis Smith's (Boston, Mass.) layup nearly four minutes later left the Pride down 23-20 before Clarkson ended the half on a 13-6 run to take a 10 point lead into the break.

The Pride knifed into their deficit early in the final period as two more Chambers free throws made it a five point game at 40-35. Clarkson would keep the Pride at bay for a majority of the period, holding a lead that got no lower than six, until the final minute when Robert Edwards (Memphis, Tenn.) converted on a jumper to make it 66-62 with 36 seconds remaining. Clarkson converted four of their six free throw attempts in the final seconds to combat a late three by Ryan Chambers and the Golden Knights held on for a five point win.

Ryan Chambers scored a team-high 15 points and also added a game-high three steals. Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) and Robert Edwards each scored 14 points and added seven and eight rebounds each, respectively. Jonathon Josselin (Medford, Mass.) was the final Pride player in double-digits with 13 points.
