HAVERFORD DOWNS REGIS IN NEW YORK CITY

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Regis College dropped a 53-49 decision to Haverford College on Monday in the nightcap of the New York University Holiday Tournament in New York City. The Pride drop to 3-6 overall this season and will take on Clarkson University in the consolation game on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.

The Pride were able to take an early 8-4 lead on the Fords (3-7) on a Jonathon Josselin (Medford, Mass.) jumpshot five minutes into the game. Haverford's Bo Friddle knocked down a three pointer that gave the Fords their first lead of the contest before Kandley Val (Boston, Mass.) converted a jumper to knot the game at 12 apiece with just less than 11 minutes remaining in the period.

Brett Cohen's layup at the 5:45 mark of the first half gave the Fords their largest lead of the frame, however Regis was able to rally back and make it a 32-26 deficit headed into the break.

In the second half, Fridell gave the Fords an 11 point lead with less than nine minutes remaining in the game before Regis rattled off an 8-0 run to make it a 47-44 ball game with 5:03 showing on the clock. Robert Edwards' (Memphis, Tenn.) layup kept it a three point deficit at 49-46 with under two minutes to play, but a layup by Cam Baker and a pair of freethrows by Ian Goldberg gave the Fords a 53-46 advantage headed into the final seconds.

Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) knocked down a late three ball for the Pride, but it was too little too late as the Pride fell to Haverford, 53-49.

Josselin had an all-around game for the Pride as the senior led the team with 11 points while also adding six rebounds, four assists, four steals and a pair of blocks. Osanto Marc (Kissimme, Fla.) also grabbed six boards and had 10 points. Robert Edwards came off the bench to score four points while also getting five rebounds and a team-high four blocks.
