PRIDE DROPS 86-60 DECISION TO JOHN CARROLL

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Regis College suffered an 86-60 setback at the hands of John Carroll University on Thursday night in Cleveland, Ohio as a part of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament hosted by Case Western Reserve University. The Pride drops to 3-4 overall while John Carroll improves to 7-2. Jonathon Josselin (Medford, Mass.) led Regis with 18 points in the setback.

John Carroll grabbed an early 10-2 lead following an and-one layup by Patrick Sweeney before the Pride made it a one point game on back-to-back layups by Josselin and Ethan Peana (Staten, N.Y.). Josselin gave Regis its first lead of the game at 14-13 and the Pride eventually led by as four on a free throw by Lewis Smith (Boston, Mass.). However, the lead was short-lived as the Blue Streaks responded by ending the half on a 29-6 run to take a 44-25 lead into the break.

Regis was able to cut the second half deficit to 10 with 12:36 remaining on a Josselin layup that made it a 57-47 game, but that would be as close as the Pride would get as Regis could not get the lead to single digits, falling to JCU 86-60.

Josselin led all Pride players with 18 points and also added four rebounds. Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) joined Josselin in double-digits with 11 points and added five rebounds. Ahmad Charles (Cambridge, Mass.) added five points and a team-high seven rebounds in the setback.

The Pride will play in the consolation game at 2:00 p.m. against Waynesburg University on Friday afternoon.
