EDWARDS STRONG SECOND HALF NOT ENOUGH FOR PRIDE

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men's basketball team was defeated by Trinity College Thursday (Dec.2) by the score of 57-48. The Pride moves to 3-2 on the season. While the visiting Bantams move to 5-2 overall on the season.

The Bantams started the game with an early lead scoring the first points of the first half. The Bantams continued with their strong offense to cap a 7-1 run. The Pride followed with a strong defensive stand in the first five minutes of the game forcing the Bantams to turn the ball over twice on shot clock violations. The Bantams answered the Pride's physical defensive play by settling the ball.  The Bantams continued to work the ball offensively being led by Luke McDougall (Baldwinsville,N.Y./Charles W. Baker) who had a team high eight points in the first half.

The Pride was led by freshman Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho /Phillips Exeter) who was able to cut the lead in first half to 8-15. Edwards was able to out muscle the Bantams defense and score off his own rebound. Both teams continued to jockey for ball control in the final minutes of the first half, with the first half ending in favor of the Bantams 25-17.

The Bantams entered the second half with the lead and continued with a barrage of three point shots. The Pride rallied back under the intense play of senior Darrin Kelley (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) who was able to get the Pride within 12 points of the lead. The Bantams continued to shoot from the three point arc, being led by Brian Ford (Bronx, N.Y. / All Hallows) who tallied nine points in three pointers. The Bantams went up by 17 points late in the second half.

This lead was cut to five points by the strong defensive play of senior Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass./Brighton) and Edwards. Edwards went off in the second half, going 6-for-8 from the field and scoring 12 points in the second half.  This strong play was not enough for the Pride as the Bantams continued to possess the ball and run out the clock.

The Bantams next matchup is against Springfield College Tuesday (Dec.7) at 5:30 p.m.
