PRIDE SET FOR SCOTS

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s’ Basketball team is set to take on Gordon College Wednesday (Feb. 2) at 7:30 p.m. The Pride enters the contest with an overall record of 12-7 and is 5-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The visiting Scots enter the contest with an overall record of 6-12 and are 2-5 in TCCC play.

The Pride is led by senior Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass./ Brighton) who is averaging a team high 13.5 points per game.  Neal has set the tone of the Pride’s offense by scoring 256 points on the season.  Fellow senior Phil Alibrandi (York, Maine/ York) will look to contribute on offense by controlling the tempo of the game.  Alibrandi is averaging 10.6 points per game and leads the team in rebounds per game.

 Freshman Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho/ Phillips Exeter Academy) leads the team in blocks with 35 and is ranked third in TCCC play. Edwards will look to become the leading force on the boards for the Pride as he currently stands second on the team with 79. Neal will also look to solidify the Pride’s defense. He has caused a team high of 45 turnovers and recorded 45 steals on the season.

The Scots are led by Greg Walker (Uxbridge, Mass./Northbridge)  who is the team leader in points per game with 15.7. Walker is also a defensive force for the Scots with a team high of 118 rebounds on the season. David Dempsey (Wallingford, Conn./Wallingford) will look to help the Scots on offense.  Dempsey is second on the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game and fifth on the team for steals.

The contest is set to start at 7:30 p.m. and will be played at the Pride’s Higgins Court.
