Weston, Mass.—The Regis College Athletic Department has named freshman Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls Idaho./Phillips Exeter) the student athlete of the week. Edwards' performances over the past week have helped the Pride win its last two games.
Versus New England College, Edwards scored a game high of 28 points for the Pride. This was a career-high for Edwards, who is playing in his first season at Regis. Edwards continued to play solid into the weekend against Eastern Nazarene College. Edwards tallied 11 points against the Lions and recorded three blocks in the game.
Edwards has been a defensive force for the Pride, recording 33 blocks this season. The 33 blocks currently rank third in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. Edwards also has been a force off the glass for the Pride. Edwards has tallied a total of 67 rebounds on the season ranking him second on the team. Defensively Edwards will look to secure the backcourt for the Pride by adding to his total blocks on the season and continue to be a rebounding force.
Edwards will continue to contribute on offense for the Pride in upcoming games against the University of New England and Wentworth Institute of Technology. Edwards has already surpassed his monthly point's totals for the past two months. Currently he has 58 points for the month of January and is averaging 11.6 points per game. Edwards will look to finish out the month of January on a strong note. Edwards has improved his monthly statistical highs in every category. He will get his next chance to have a solid performance on Thursday (Jan. 27) when the Pride takes on the Nor'Easters.
