PRIDE SET TO TAKE ON GOLDEN BEARS

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men's basketball team is set to take on Western New England College Tuesday (Feb. 8) at 7:30 p.m. The Pride enters the contest with an overall record of 13-8 and is 6-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The visiting Golden Bears enter the contest with an overall record of 4-16 and are 3-6 in TCCC play.

The Pride is led by seniors Phil Alibrandi (York, Maine/York) and Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass./Brighton). Neal is first in points per game with 13.5 on the season for the Pride. Alibrandi is first in rebounds per game with 120 on the season.  Alibrandi is a force off the boards; he averages six rebound per game. This average currently ranks him 15th in TCC play. Neal is also a defensive force causing 45 turnovers this season and recording 45 steals. His 2.4 steal per game average ranks him third in TCCC play.

Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass./Abington) will look to be a deep threat for the Pride. Chambers ranks first on the team in three-point shots made and attempted.  Chambers has been a clutch three-point shooter for the Pride this season. Chambers hit a game winner versus the University of New England and a late three against Curry to seal the win.  Chambers will look to have a strong game against the Golden Bears.

On defense the Pride will be assisted by the strong play of freshman Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Phillips Exeter Academy). Edwards has a team high of 38 blocks on the season and has been an important part of keeping opposing offenses at bay. The tandem of Neal and Edwards will look to disrupt the Golden Bears offense.

The Pride will face the Golden Bears at home with the contest set to start at 7:30 p.m.
