Weston, Mass.—Nathan Hager, Regis College men’s basketball head coach, recently announced Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass./Abington) would be continuing his education at Regis College in the fall, and compete as a member of the men’s basketball program.
“Ryan is a tremendous addition to our program,” Hager remarked.
Chambers was a 2010 Boston Herald All-Scholastic athlete at Abington. His other accolades include being a two-time Enterprise All-Scholastic athlete, South Shore League Co-Most Valuable Player, and a three-time South Shore League All-Star.
“He is a proven winner, and brings with him a college ready level of skill,” said Hager.
He was also a contributor to the Green Wave’s 57-13 record over three seasons.
Regis will hope to reach postseason play with Chambers on the court. “He has played in, and won big games,” Hager said of his incoming student-athlete.
Chambers helped lead Abington to three MIAA sectional playoffs, including two quarterfinal appearances, and winning the Division III South Sectional in 2009.
During the 2009-10 season Chambers averaged 18 points per game, and finished his career having scored 1,206 points, making him the all-time leading scorer. He is only one of three members to obtain at least 1,000-points under Abington High’s head coach Chris Beatrice.
“We expect him [Chris] to make an immediate impact,” Hager concluded.
