Pride Men Finish Second at GNAC Outdoor Championships

WESTON, Mass. - For the second straight year, the Regis College men's track and field team finished in second place as the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded Sunday at Regis Stadium.

After winning the triple jump Saturday, Justin Thuotte (Lebanon, Conn.) added to his virtual trophy case with first place finishes in the pole vault after clearing 3.80 meters (12' 5.5") and the long jump with a mark of 6.32 meters (20' 9") on his third attempt. In addition, he tied for third in the high jump after clearing 1.77 meters (5' 9.75") and helped the 4x100 meter relay team to a third place finish with an overall time of 45.32 seconds.

Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished just behind Thuotte in the pole vault after clearing 3.65 meters (11' 11.75"), plus he ended up fifth in the shot put at 11.36 meters (37' 3.25"). Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) cleared 2.60 meters to finish fourth in the pole vault, while Bryan Abreu (Haverhill, Mass.) earned All-GNAC honors by placing second in the shot put with a mark of 12.36 meters (40' 6.75") and Ryan Sweeney (Lynn, Mass.) also scored with a fourth place finish at 11.69 meters (38' 4.25").

Zach Myrick (Southington, Conn.) cleared 1.82 meters (5' 11.5"), a personal best mark, to finish second in the high jump, plus he ended up sixth in the long jump at 5.79 meters (19' 0"), just behind Harry Grayson (Lowell, Mass.) in fifth place at 5.83 meters (19' 1.5"). Grayson also finished second in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.90 seconds and fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.78.

Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 57.74 seconds to qualify for the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He also led off the 4x400 meter relay, joining Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.), Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.), and Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) to finish third with an overall time of 3:39.19.

Happenny finished second in the 1500 meter run with a school-record time of 4:16.18, exactly a half-second faster than the previous record, and fifth in 800 meter run in 2:06.03. Stogsdill finished fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:28.96, and Pierre scored for the Pride with a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash in 55.39 seconds.

Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 34.96 meters (114' 8") and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.65 seconds. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:10.58.

Select individuals from the Regis College track and field team have qualified to compete at the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships starting Friday, May 3, at Mount Holyoke College.
