Men’s Track and Field Collects Three Event Wins at Wellesley Invite

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Regis College men's track and field finished first in three different individual events at the Wellesley Invitational Saturday, hosted by Wellesley College at Butler Stadium.

Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) earned a first place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07.20, 1.61 seconds in front of his nearest competitor. AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) ended up in third place with a time of 2:09.16, and Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in sixth place in 2:17.63.

Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.66, finishing ahead of the second place competitor by 52/100ths of a second. He also teamed with Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.), Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.), and Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.) for a second place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with an overall time of 3:45.13.

Pastore finished first in the long jump with a top mark of 5.69 meters (18' 8"), plus he finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.15 seconds. Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) placed fourth in the 100 meter dash in 12.67 seconds and fifth in the hammer throw at 20.50 meters (67' 3").

Elsewhere on the track, Carroll finished in second place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:31.54, followed by Sigman in fourth place in 4:40.61 and Gustavo Novelle-Ruddy (Boston, Mass.) in fifth place in 5:05.85. Jacob O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) placed third in the 400 meter dash in 1:00.33 and seventh in the 200 meter dash in 27.22 seconds, with Bryce Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) finishing fifth in that event in 26.16 seconds.

Also in the throwing events, Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished third in both the shot put with a mark of 10.61 meters (34' 9.75") and the discus throw with a mark of 32.91 meters (107' 11.5").

The Regis College track and field team will host the Regis Spring Classic Friday, April 8, at Regis Stadium. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., with the first track competition set to start at 3 p.m.
