School Record Highlights Outdoor Opener for Men’s Track and Field

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) broke the Regis College record in the javelin throw, highlighting the men's track and field team's participation in the BSU Bears Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater State University Saturday at the Edward C. Swenson Athletic Complex.

Kiesel finished 10th in the javelin throw with a mark of 45.33 meters (148' 9"), 2.49 meters further than the previous mark established seven years ago. He also finished 15th in the discus throw with a mark of 32.72 meters (107' 4") accomplished on his final attempt.

Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) finished 12th overall in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.32 seconds, plus he posted the Pride's fastest time in the 200 meter dash at 25.49 seconds. Charles teamed with Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.), Bryan De Souza (Everett, Mass.), and Bryce Toumayan-Miller (Natick, Mass.) in the 4x100 meter relay, as the foursome finished 16th with an overall time of 48.23 seconds.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the quartet of Michael Carroll (Lynn, Mass.), AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.), Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.), and Jacob O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) finished in 14th place with a time of 3:48.53. Carroll also posted Regis's top time in the 1500 meter run of 4:26.08, followed by Happenny in 4:30.43 and Corso in 4:39.57.

Will Onorato (Scarborough, Maine) was the Pride's top finisher in the 400 meter dash, ending up in 18th place with a time of 1:00.08. Jacob O'Neal finished in 22nd place in 1:04.17, and Ben O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) posted a time of 1:06.02 to place 24th. Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) completed the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:27.78.

Regis College next competes at the Wellesley Invitational next Saturday, April 2, at Butler Stadium in Wellesley, Mass., beginning at 11 a.m.
