Avery Mola Named GNAC Women’s Volleyball Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - After leading the Pride in both total kills and total digs during a 3-0 week, first-year player Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, Oct. 16, by the league office.

Last Thursday, Mola helped the Pride rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Wellesley College, 3-2. She finished with 11 kills, two service aces, three block assists, and 13 defensive digs for her fourth double-double of the season.

Saturday, she notched her fifth double-double against Anna Maria with 10 kills and 12 digs, plus she did not make an attack error in 20 attempts for a season-high .500 hitting percentage. Later against New England College, Mola collected eight kills and a team-high 15 digs as the Pride swept the Pilgrims to extend their winning streak to six matches.

For the season, Mola is second on the team in both kills and digs with 164 kills and 221 digs, plus she is third on the squad with 28 service aces. This is her first career GNAC weekly award and the fifth time this season the women's volleyball team has picked up at least one league honor.

Regis College (15-6, 6-1 GNAC) heads into Boston to face Emmanuel College Tuesday, Oct. 17, beginning at 7 p.m., followed by a non-conference match at Eastern Nazarene College Thursday, Oct. 19, also starting at 7 p.m.
