Ahnasia Mckinney Collects Another GNAC Weekly Award

WINTHROP, Mass. - After playing a significant role in Regis' 2-1 week against strong non-conference competition, senior Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week for the fourth straight time this season, as announced by the league office Monday, Sept. 25.

Last Thursday at Wentworth, Mckinney collected 28 assists, three kills, one service ace, and four digs as the Pride swept the Leopards. In Saturday's first match against host Trinity, she finished with 31 assists, three service aces, nine digs, and three total blocks.

Later Saturday against Montclair State, Mckinney posted her second-highest assist total of the season with 40 assists to go along with four kills, eight digs, and two block assists to help the Pride defeat the Red Hawks in five sets. During the match, she became the seventh player in Regis women's volleyball history to reach 1,000 career assists and now sits in sixth place on that list with 1,028 career assists.

For the season, Mckinney is second in the GNAC in assists per set at 7.35. Last season, Mckinney received Honorable Mention All-NEWVA recognition after leading the team with 587 assists, fifth-most in a single season in program history, to go along with 224 kills, 252 digs, and 62 total blocks.

Regis College (8-5) begins GNAC competition this week at home against Saint Joseph's College Tuesday, Sept. 26, starting at 7 p.m. The Pride will then host Simmons and Mitchell in the annual Regis Fest tri-match Saturday, Sept. 30, beginning at 10 a.m.
