Women’s Volleyball Loses Non-Conference Contest

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College lost to Plymouth State University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16), Thursday night in a non-conference women's collegiate volleyball match at Higgins Court.

Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) led the Pride with nine kills and 10 defensive digs, while Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished with seven kills, a .500 hitting percentage, 12 assists, and eight digs. Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.) collected eight digs and four block assists, and Emily Hart (Meriden, Conn.) added nine digs.

In the opening set, Regis took a 7-5 lead on consecutive kills by Tenorio, but Plymouth State quickly responded with a 9-2 scoring run, featuring back-to-back kills from both Lindsey Sanderson and Lilli Stogner. Tenorio notched consecutive kills later in the set to bring the Pride within two points at 19-17, but the Panthers closed out the set with a 6-2 scoring run.

Thanks in part to a kill and a block assist each from Mola and Lauren Tuttle (Stratham, N.H.), Regis scored the first five points of the second set. The Panthers would eventually pull within one point at 11-10 on a kill by Aynslee King, but the Pride used a kill by Tenorio and a service ace from Mckinney to maintain their lead. However, Plymouth State put together a 15-2 scoring run to close out the set, featuring four service aces from Emma Hampton.

Plymouth State jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the third set, led by Nora Ryan with three kills, a service ace, and a block assist. Regis battled back, going on an 8-2 scoring run to close to within two points at 13-11, but the Panthers eventually pulled away with a 10-3 scoring stretch, capped by a kill from Ryan.

Ryan led the Panthers with 10 kills on a .562 hitting percentage along with three block assists, while Stogner finished with eight kills, three service aces, and five digs. Kalista Butler dished out 13 assists, Riley McDonough contributed nine assists, and Makayla Marucci added seven assists, two service aces, and a team-high 11 digs.

Regis College (2-3) hosts Suffolk and UMass Dartmouth in a tri-match Saturday, Sept. 9, starting at 11 a.m. Plymouth State (3-2) hosts Saint Michael's College Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.
