Ahnasia Mckinney, Emily Hart Earn GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - After leading Regis College to a 2-1 weekend, including a come-from-behind victory over Roger Williams, senior Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Setter of the Week, and first-year player Emily Hart (Meriden, Conn.) has been named the GNAC Libero of the Week, announced Tuesday, Sept. 5, by the league office.

Mckinney was called upon to be the team's main setter through the vast majority of the weekend at the RWU Invitational. Friday, she dished out 24 assists to go along with three kills, six digs, and three block assists against Clark.

Saturday, Mckinney helped the Pride sweep Wellesley with 31 assists and nine digs. In the team's second match of the day against the host Hawks, Mckinney led the Pride back from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 victory with a career-high 43 assists along with 11 digs for her ninth career double-double, plus she contributed five kills on a .286 hitting percentage.

Hart moved into the libero role in the second set of the season-opening match against Clark Friday, ending up with 10 digs. Saturday, she earned 19 digs in each of the team's victories, averaging 6.33 digs per set during the Pride's sweep over Wellesley and 3.8 digs per set in the five-set win over host Roger Williams.

These are the first career GNAC weekly awards for both Mckinney and Hart. These are also the first GNAC weekly awards for the Regis women's volleyball program since Mica van der Meulen was named GNAC Libero of the Week Oct. 4, 2021.

Regis College (2-1) will play four home matches over the next week, starting Tuesday night, Sept. 5, against WPI at 7:30 p.m. The Pride host Plymouth State Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. as well as a tri-match involving Suffolk and UMass Dartmouth Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 11 a.m.
