Mckinney, Tenorio, Dow Recognized by NEWVA

BEVERLY, Mass. - The accolades continue to roll in for the Regis College women's volleyball team, as junior Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) were recognized by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) with Honorable Mention All-NEWVA awards, while Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) was voted Honorable Mention All-Senior by the coaches within the organization.

Mckinney was called upon to be a hitter and a setter this season, leading the team with 587 assists, the fifth-highest single-season assist total in program history, to go along with 224 kills. She notched three triple-doubles this year, one of 14 players across Division III to earn at least three triple-doubles, starting with her first against Paul Quinn College Sept. 3 with 11 kills, 25 assists, and 11 digs.

Mckinney also earned triple-doubles at Mitchell Sept. 28 with 10 kills, 14 assists, and 12 digs, and against Fisher Oct. 27 with a season-high 14 kills, 33 assists, and 14 digs. She also accumulated a career-high 35 assists in a five-set victory at Wellesley Oct. 19 and a season-high 15 digs along with 27 assists during a five-set win over Colby-Sawyer Oct. 11.

Tenorio also picked up Third Team All-GNAC honors this season after leading the Pride with 87 service aces and 415 defensive digs, tied for the third-most aces in a single season in program history and the sixth-most digs in a single year within the Pride program. She collected 196 kills during the season, highlighted by a 15-kill performance against Eastern Nazarene Sept. 20 as the Pride handed the NCAA Tourney-bound Lions their only loss so far in 2022.

Tenorio is currently fifth in Division III in service aces, earning eight service aces in conference matches against Albertus Magnus Sept. 24 and against Colby-Sawyer Oct. 11. She also reached double figures in defensive digs 19 times during the season with a career-high 30 digs in back-to-back contests against Fisher Oct. 27 and at Norwich Oct. 29.

Dow was also voted Second Team All-GNAC this year after leading the Pride with 227 kills, tying for the team lead in blocks with 83 total blocks, and ending up second on the squad in hitting percentage at .250 and in service aces with 53. She concluded her collegiate career second on the Regis all-time list for career hitting percentage at .277, fourth in career kills with 617, and eighth in career total blocks with 206.

Dow ended the 2022 season with seven double-digit kill performances within the final 14 matches, highlighted by a career-high 18 kills along with four aces, six digs, and six total blocks on Senior Night against Fisher Oct. 27. She also earned 14 kills with a .480 hitting percentage against University of Saint Joseph Oct. 25 as well as 15 kills at Norwich Oct. 29. Dow finished with a career-high 10 total blocks against Wentworth Sept. 22.

Regis College completed the 2022 season with a 20-13 overall record, earning back-to-back 20-win campaigns for the first time since 2014 and 2015. Within the GNAC, the Pride finished in fifth place in the regular season standings with a 9-4 league mark and qualified for the GNAC Tournament for the third time since joining the league in 2017.
