PREVIEW: Women's Volleyball Heads To Lasell For GNAC Quarterfinal

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women’s volleyball team enters its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed and with it a visit to No. 4 Lasell for a quarterfinal matchup against the Lasers Tuesday, Oct. 31. First serve set for 6:30 p.m. The winner will move on to play either Mount Ida or Johnson & Wales (RI).

Entering the final week of the regular season, the Pride had already secured a postseason spot but a loss to Rivier last Thursday and results around the league on the final day of the conference regular season left the Pride just a seed away at hosting a first-round match.

Lasell finished one game ahead of the Pride in the final league standings and won the lone head-to-head meeting as well. Playing on a neutral court as part of a tri-match at Emmanuel, the Pride fell in four sets but saw sophomore Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) deliver a career-high 20 kills to go along with 14 digs.

The all-time series history between the two schools separated by just four miles has been tight historically, as Lasell’s win on Oct. 21 pushed them ahead by an all-time margin of 11-10. The Pride had won the last two meetings against Lasell entering this season’s matchup, dating back to the 2014 season.
