Regis Sweeps Mitchell in NECC Play

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2016 regular season home schedule in the win column on Wednesday night, defeating Mitchell College in straight sets (29-27, 25-14, 25-9).

With the win, the Pride improves to 12-15 on the season (6-1 NECC), with Mitchell falling to 3-17 (0-7 NECC).

The Pride took a lengthy, back-and-forth opening set, 29-27, that featured 20 ties and 10 lead changes. At no time in the set was the lead more than two for either side. The set was eventually clinched by a sneaky, floating attack by Regis junior Courtney Mosher (Taunton, Mass.) that found the hardwood in the back left corner of the court.

The next two sets were much more one-sided than the first, as the Pride quickly took care of business thanks to a balanced attack and strong efforts from players coming off the bench. Pride freshman outside Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) led all players on the evening with 12 kills and eight service aces. Following Veasey was Mitchell's Amanda Rowan (Sandy Hook, Conn.), who finished the evening with eight kills.

On the defensive side of the ball, Mariner libero Colby Zitoli (Walpole, Mass.) led all players with 10 digs on the evening. The Pride were led defensively by Nicole Connolly (San Mateo, Calif.) and Crystina Lathrop (Houston, Texas), who each finished the night with six digs in the win.

The Pride will conclude its season on Saturday afternoon on the road against Lesley University at 5:00 p.m. The Mariners will wrap up their season the same day as they host Southern Vermont at 12:00 p.m.
