Pride Tops Becker In Four Sets, Runs Win Streak To Four

LEICESTER, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's volleyball team kept the momentum going, winning its fourth straight match with a four-set victory over Becker College in New England Collegiate College action Tuesday at the Leicester Gymnasium. Sets scores were 25-19, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18.

Katryna Veasey (Quincy, Mass.) and Sydney Trusty (Durham, Conn.) led the attack for the Pride (5-11, 2-0 NECC), both recording double doubles with 13 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Shay Faber (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) set up the offense with 45 set assists and four service aces.

With her solo block in the fourth set, Becker senior middle blocker Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I. / Coventry) became the school's all-time career leader in total blocks with 185, eclipsing the previous record of 184, set by her coach, Rachel Abraham.

Turner led the Hawks of Becker (7-11, 0-2 NECC) with 11 kills and a .360 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle blocker Kayla Dupree (North Bergen, N.J. / Bronx) finished with seven kills and five total blocks while junior setter Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine / Gorham) set up the offense with 17 set assists, 13 digs and six kills. Sophomore libero Brittney Bullis (Stafford, Va. / Mountain View) led the defense with 17 digs.

The turning point in the match came in the fourth set. With the Hawks leading 17-14 and threatening to force a fifth game, the Pride rallied off the serve of freshman right side Stephanie Carter (Jupiter, Fla.), reeling off six straight points and finishing the match on an 11-1 run.

Up next for the Hawks, the team hosts Worcester State on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Pride will also be back in action on Thursday when they host Emmanuel College at 6:00 p.m.
