PRIDE GRAB FIRST HOME WIN OF 2015

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's volleyball team picked up their third-straight win and grabbed their first home victory of the 2015 season with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-15) sweep of Mount Ida College on Tuesday night in non-conference action. The Pride improves to 6-4 on the year, while the Mustangs drop to 3-4 overall.

Regis was happy to be home after spending the first two weeks on the road and showed it by taking the opening set, 25-9. Regis raced out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back, eventually leading by as many as 14 in the game, en route to the win. Graciella Molinari (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) led the Regis attack with four kills in the set, with Sydney Trusty (Durham, Conn.) and Rachel Bartels (Edinburg, Texas) adding two kills apiece.

Set two was a back-and-forth affair as a block from Mount Ida's Taylor Davis (Machiasport, Maine) and Molly Alkinburg (Port Deposit, Md.) cut the Mustangs deficit to 5-4, before back-to-back errors by the Pride gave the visitors an 8-6 lead. The Pride used a quick 6-0 spurt to grab a 12-8 lead and eventually forced a Mount Ida timeout with the score 16-9 following a pair of aces from Shay Faber (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and a Mustang error.

Mount Ida forced their way back into the game and trailed only 19-15 after an Alysha Dunbar (Quincy, Mass.) service ace. Mary Kate Reidy (Agawam, Mass.) kept it a five point game at 24-19 with a kill, but it was too little too late as the final serve from the Mustangs sailed out of bounds and gave Regis a 2-0 lead with the 25-19 win.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the third game behind a pair of service aces from Kelcey Koolman (Bedford, N.H.) and several Pride errors. Dunbar extended the lead to 6-1 with a kill, but the Pride scored nine-straight points to take a 10-6 lead and force a timeout by Mount Ida.

A Taylor Davis kill followed by a Reidy ace and a Pride error let Mount Ida back into the game at 10-9, but Regis had the answer again as they used an 11-4 run to jump out to a 21-13 lead and force another Mustang timeout. MacKenzie Emco (Sutton, Mass.) would end the game with her first kill of the match to help Regis win the final game, 25-15, and seal the 3-0 sweep for the Pride.

Regis hit .188 in the match, including a .533 percentage in the opening game, to go with 14 service aces. Graciella Molinari led Regis with seven kills and five digs, while Emily DeBarros (Brockton, Mass.) added five of her own to go with four service aces. Sydney Trusty had four kills and six digs, with Rachel Bartels and Nicole Connolly (San Mateo, Calif.) adding three kills apiece. Bartels led the Pride defense with five total blocks in the game. Crystina Lathrop (Houston, Texas) dished out 16 assists to go with six digs.

Mount Ida was led by four kills apiece from Mary Kate Reidy and Kristy Walton (Fairhaven, Mass.). Taylor Davis added three kills and six digs to go with seven assists, while Alysha Dunbar also had seven assists to go with four digs and two kills. Kelcey Koolman posted a game-high 11 digs on the night.
