WRIGHT NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR, FOUR NAMED ALL-NECC

WESTON, Mass. – Head Women's Volleyball Coach Scott Wright has been named the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year while four of his players were named to the 2014 All-Conference Teams. 

The Pride (24-8) won their first ever NECC Championship and will take on Bowdoin College in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

Sophomore Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) who was named Tournament MVP, was also added to the All-NECC First Team while teammates freshman Gracie Molinari (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) and freshman Nicole Connolly (San Mateo, Calif.) were named to the All-NECC Second Team. Freshman Tina Lathrop (Houston, Texas) rounds out the All-Conference selections as an Honorable Mention Team member.

Wright took home his first NECC Coach of the Year honor in just his third season with the Pride. Regis was undefeated in the NECC regular season and did not drop a set in Conference play. Regis finished the season 24-8 while setting a program record for wins in the process.

Kristina led the Pride with 52 total blocks while also recording 188 kills which was good for third on the team. She also racked up 70 digs as well. During conference play, del Rey ranked fifth in the NECC with 11 blocks and was tied with teammate Courtney Mosher (Taunton, Mass.) She also ranked 12th in kills with 64 in conference matches. This is the second consecutive season del Rey has earned All-First Team honors.

Molinari who was a three-time NECC Rookie of the Week selection, ranked first on the squad with 215 kills and had a 3.07 kills per set average. She also added 78 digs and 10 total blocks. During conference play Molinari ranked second in the NECC in kills per set (3.71) and fifth in the conference in kills (78).

Connolly a two-time NECC Rookie of the Week winner, ranked second on the team in kills (214), digs (274) and blocks (43). She also ranked third on the Pride with 47 service aces. Connolly ranked ninth in the NECC during conference play in blocks (9) and ranked 20th in kills (51).

Rounding out the All-Conference Team selections is Tina Lathrop. Lathrop, who was a one-time NECC Rookie of the Week selection, led the Crimson & Gold with 602 assists which was good for 9.26 assists per set. She also added 156 digs which was good for fourth on the team and was also fifth with 31 service aces. During conference play, Lathrop ranked first in assist per set (10.88) and third in assists (185).
