PRIDE SWEEP TRI-MATCH FROM GATORS AND BEARS

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College picked up a pair of non-conference wins on Saturday afternoon, defeating Pine Manor College, 3-0, and St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn, 3-0. Pine Manor used a 3-1 score to defeat SJC in the middle match. Regis improves to 13-7 this season, while Pine Manor moves to 4-10 overall, and the Bears drop to 3-8.

Regis College 3, Pine Manor College 0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-17)
In the opening match of the day, Regis swept Pine Manor in three-straight sets behind a .343 hitting percentage. Current New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week Nicole Connolly (San Mateo, Calif.) posted a match high nine kills to go with four aces and six digs in the win.

Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) and Gracie Molinari (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) registered eight kills apiece, while Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) added six of her own. Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) led the Pride defense with eight digs and also added six service aces and Haley Schulte (Fullerton, Calif.) handed out 27 assists.

Pine Manor was led by three kills apiece from Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) and Susan Le (Lowell, Mass.). Phalogne Pierre (Boston, Mass.) and Destiny Mann (Orlando, Fla.) also added two kills apiece, and Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, Alaska) posted eight assists. Le led the Gators with six digs on the day, with Mann adding five of her own. Pierre and Carline Kirksey-Almond (Lawrence, Mass.) had four digs apiece.

 

Pine Manor College 3, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) 1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-12, 25-19)
In the second match of the day, Pine Manor grabbed their fourth win of the year with a 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's. Susan Le led the attack with 15 kills and added seven digs, while Destiny Mann posted a double-double of 10 kills and 19 digs to go with three aces. Natasia Franklin chipped in 13 kills of her own and Phalogne Pierre had eight kills, nine digs, two blocks, and two aces. Ashley Whiteshield handed out a match-high 40 assists in the win.

St. Joseph's was led by 21 kills and five digs from Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y.). Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y.) added eight kills and 13 digs to go with four aces. Chanell Joseph (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Bears defense with 14 digs. Cassandra Nasta (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in five digs of her own, while Anna Carbone (Ozone Park, N.Y.) dished out 23 assists to go with six digs.

The Pride's final match of the day was a 3-0 sweep of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). Sam Bliss fueled the Pride offense with 12 kills, eight digs, and eight service aces, while Emily DeBarros (Brockton, Mass.) had eight kills of her own. Nicole Connolly added seven more kills to her total for the day, and Kristina del Rey and Gracie Molinari had five kills apiece. Marilia Ramos led the defense with nine digs, and Haley Schulte added a match-high 34 assists to go with three aces and four digs. Sara Casullo (Little Falls, N.Y.) chipped in four aces and three digs for the home team.

Lauren Ganun posted five kills, three digs, and three blocks for the Bears. Jennifer Moncino added two kills and three digs. Cassandra Nasta had five digs, an ace, and a block, while Anna Carbone handed out seven assists to go with four digs. Chanell Joseph also added five digs in the setback.

Regis is back in action next Saturday when they host Southern Vermont College and the Worcester State University in a tri-match starting at 11:00 a.m. Pine Manor travels to Becker College on Monday night for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Hawks. St. Joseph's travels to Medgar Evers on Thursday night for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
