TRIO OF PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-NECC SQUADS

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's volleyball team had three players named to the New England Collegiate Conference All-Conference teams, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) and Vanessa Noesi (Puerta Plata, D.R.) were named All-NECC First Team, while Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) was named to the All-NECC Second Team.

Voting was conducted amongst the league's head coaches.

Regis (14-18) finished the season with a 6-2 mark in NECC matches and earned the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament. After a thrilling, come from behind 3-2 victory over Newbury in the NECC Semifinals, the Pride made it to their second consecutive NECC Championship match. Unfortunately, the Crimson and Gold dropped a 3-0 decision to top-seeded Southern Vermont College for the second-straight year.

Vanessa Noesi, a senior middle blocker, finished third on the Pride with 160 kills and led the team with a .262 attack percentage this season. Noesi also added 58 total blocks, good for second on the team, while leading the Pride in solo blocks at 24. Noesi finished second in the NECC in hitting percentage and third in the league in total blocks. This marks her second-straight All-NECC selection after being named to the Second Team in 2012, and she was also named to the All-Tournament Team this season.

The senior wraps up her career with 536 kills, a .210 hitting percentage, and 313 total blocks. Noesi ranks fourth all-time in kills, and third in both hitting percentage and blocks in Regis College history.

In her first season with the Pride, Kristina del Rey led the team with 230 kills and 60 total blocks to earn All-NECC First Team recognition. She also added 30 aces this season to go with 79 digs and a .194 hitting percentage. In the NECC, del Rey ranked seventh in kills, fifth in attack percentage, and second in total blocks. Her 230 kills this season was the sixth best mark in Regis College history.

Sara Gold wraps up her Regis College career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in program history. Gold was a four-time All-Conference selection that included an All-CCC Honorable Mention nod her freshman year, a Second Team All-NECC selection in 2011, and First Team honors in 2012. Gold graduates as the all-time leader in digs with 2,000, as well as the all-time leader in career games played (439) and service aces (203).

This season, Gold led the Pride with 588 digs, leading the conference by a wide margin. Her 5.20 digs per set were also tops on both the Pride and the NECC, while her 35 service aces placed her 16th in the league. Gold was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the second-straight year.

Other major award winners included Southern Vermont's Jessica Delgado (Los Angeles, Calif.) being named the NECC Player of the Year, the third-straight year a Mountaineer has won the award. Newbury took home three of the major awards including Meghan McDermott (Hampton, N.H.) being named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Courtney Banks (Corona, Calif.) grabbing the Rookie of the Year award. Newbury's Clint Whelan was named the Coach of the Year, while Elms grabbed the Team Sportsmanship Award.
