PRIDE GRAB #2 SEED, EARN FIRST ROUND BYE

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's volleyball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Championships and has earned a first round bye. The Pride (13-17, 6-2 NECC) will play on Friday night at top-seeded Southern Vermont.

The Pride have improved a game each season since joining the NECC after going 4-4 in 2011, 5-3 in 2012, and 6-2 this season. Regis won six of its finals seven matches – including four-straight to end the year – to grab the No. 2 seed. Regis will try and return to the NECC Championship match for the second-straight year after making it into the final match as the No. 3 seed last season.

Regis will take on the winner of the No. 6 Mitchell College vs. No. 3 Newbury College match scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Pride defeated both teams this season, posting a 3-0 win over the Mariners on October 19 and a 3-0 win last Friday over the Nighthawks.

The final rounds of the NECC Tournament will take place on Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Southern Vermont College. The Mountaineers earned the top seed in the tournament and also will have a first round bye. SVC will take on the winner of No. 5 Lesley University and No. 4 Daniel Webster College, who will play each other on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.

The Pride's only two NECC losses of the season came to Daniel Webster and Southern Vermont College, both hard-fought 3-2 setbacks earlier in the year.
