REGIS FINISHES SEVENTH AT JWU FALL CLASSIC

Providence, R.I. – The Regis College women's volleyball wrapped up the second day of the Johnson & Wales University Fall Classic by going 1-1. Regis fell to Plymouth State, 3-1 before defeating WPI, 3-0 in their final match of the weekend. The Pride finished the tournament in seventh place and move to 8-16 on the season.

Plymouth State got past the Pride in their first match of the day (23-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-23). Senior Sam Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) led the Pride with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Marilia Ramos (Chimbote, Peru) added 32 assists and 16 digs. Freshman Kristina del Rey (Miami, Fla.) and senior Vanessa Noesi (Puerto Plata, D.R.) also combined for 22 kills and nine blocks.

Plymouth was led by junior Jana Nieman's (Fair Lawn, N.J.) 13 kills and six service aces. Sophomore Kirsten Perrotta (Hudson, N.H.) had 33 assists and ten digs for the Panthers.

The Pride closed out the tournament by knocking off WPI (25-16, 25-18, 25-22). Bliss had a game-high 13 kills to go along with five digs to pace the Pride. Ramos had 20 assists and seven digs, while All-Tournament Team selection Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) had one kill, one service ace, two assists, and a game-high 15 digs.

WPI was led by Adrienne Weishaai's (Chester, N.H.) ten kills and freshman Lucy Garvey's (Westerly, R.I.) nine assists and four digs.

The Pride will return to NECC play when they host Elms on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
