WESTON, Mass. - Just under one year removed from making a run to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship game, the Regis College women's volleyball team has been selected to finish second in the upcoming season, according to the NECC preseason coaches poll. The poll is determined by a vote amongst the league's coaches.
Newbury, the very team that Regis defeated in the NECC Semifinals last season, was selected to finish first after picking up 75 points and three-first place votes. Regis (67) and Southern Vermont (64), who also earned three first-place votes each, came in at second and third, respectively.
Daniel Webster earned 56 points for a fourth place finish, while Lesley garnered 43 points to close out the top five. Bay Path, Elms, Mitchell, and Becker round out the bottom half of the poll.
The Pride, who open up their season with the Pride Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30 and 31, return all six starters from last season, including All-NECC honorees Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) and Vanessa Noesi (Puerto Plata, D.R.).
