SHARKS SWIM PAST PRIDE, 3-0

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons volleyball took an early lead and never looked back as the Sharks defeated the Regis College Pride 3-0 (25-10, 25-16, 25-16) Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center in non-conference action. With the win, the Sharks move to 6-5 overall while the Pride fall to 4-11.

In the first set, Simmons freshman Raeann Nesta (Niantic, Conn.) posted 3 kills as the Sharks took an early 10-4 lead. Jackie Silver (West Hills, Calif.) led the Pride's offense with four kills, but the Sharks defense was flawless with senior Kelly Last (West Haven, Conn.) recording 19 digs on the evening.

Last continued her strong play in the second set with four kills on seven attempts. Setter Rachel Dufault (Westport, Mass.) added 19 assists and 12 digs and senior Caroline Boyd (Wilbraham, Mass.) hit .357 to put the Sharks up 2-0. Regis' Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif.) posted a game-high 20 digs but was unable to break the Sharks offense.

The Pride came out strong in the third set with a 5-1 lead off strong play by Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Olivia Foley (Andover, Mass.). But the Sharks rebounded and tied the game at nine before regaining the lead for the remainder of the match. Nesta and Dufault each posted four blocks and Kina Kamien (Salem, N.H.) added nine digs to solidify the win for the Sharks.

Regis returns to action tomorrow night as the Pride host Anna Maria College in a non-conference game at 7:00 p.m.
