SEVERAL PRIDE PLAYERS REGISTER KILLS AND ATTACKS AGAINST COLBY

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College battled to within two points in game one of its match Saturday versus Colby College, but that would be the extent of Regis’ run. The Pride would eventually fall to Colby 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-20).

The loss drops the Pride’s overall record to 8-22. Regis will finish the regular season against three The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents to make an attack on appearing in the conference post season.

Freshman Julie Endara (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) led the Pride with eight kills. The team had 20 total kills on 75 attempts. Endara managed 29 attacks, and had 13 errors to register a .138 hitting percentage.

Teammate Meghan McCarty (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial), who normally contributes as many kills as Endara, had just four in three games against Colby. McCarty has 206 kills on the season (1.91 K/K game), and a .200 attack percentage. But McCarty did have two solo blocks.

Megan Pratt (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) tied with freshman Vanessa Noesi (Methuen, Mass./Greater Lawrence Tech.) with three kills Saturday. Pratt is third on the team in kills for the season with 156. Noesi has 56 kills in 95 games played.

The Pride had a game-high 23 points against Colby. Game two was far less impressive for Regis College, managing just 16 points. The second game is usually where the Pride has been most successful this season, winning 14 games.

Defensively, Regis compiled 61 digs. Freshman Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif./Notre Dame) and Pratt had 22 and 14 digs respectively. Endara added nine digs.

Regis will close out the regular season Saturday, and its last three games are versus Western New England (Oct. 27), Colby-Sawyer and Wentworth, both games are on October 30. Wentworth holds the ninth spot in conference play at 2-6, while Regis College is in eighth at 2-5. The winning team will most likely play its way into the conference quarterfinals.

Regis College has been in the postseason the last two years, losing both quarterfinals matches in straight sets to Endicott.
