MEGHAN MCCARTY NAMED STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass.—Meghan McCarty of the women’s volleyball team was recognized as the Regis College Student-Athlete of the Week during the week of Oct. 11-17. McCarty helped lead the Pride to a 3-2 victory over Randolph College (Va.) in a weekend invitational.

Against Randolph, formerly Randolph-Macon College, McCarty had a stellar .571 attack percentage. She posted 12 kills in 21 attempts, and had zero errors in the win. McCarty posted 29 kills total in the Randolph Invitational, which includes eight and nine kills against Methodist and Southern Virginia respectively.

This season she has the team’s second best kills per game average (1.91), and leads the team with the best attack percentage (.200). In 640 attack attempts McCarty has committed just 78 errors.

Her leadership has been a driving force for the team this season, and she will likely continue her dominant presence in the team’s final five regular season matches before conference playoffs begin.

McCarty will look to lead the Pride to a conference win Tuesday when Regis College hosts Salve Regina at 7:00 p.m.
