PRIDE FALLS TO MONKS 3-1

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's volleyball team was defeated by Saint Joseph's College of Maine Friday (Oct. 1) by the score of 3-1.  The Pride moves to 5-13 on the season and 0-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.  For the visiting Monks, they move to 11-6 overall on the season and 2-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Leading the Monks in registered kills was Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine.) who tallied 10 for the game. Hawkes was able to power the Monks in the first two sets, defeating the Pride 25-14, and 25-12. The third set was won by the Pride who was led offensively by senior Meghan McCarty (Billerica, Mass. /Billerica).  McCarty's team high of 13 registered kills was not enough to command the lead in set four. The Pride dropped the fourth set by the score of 25-17. 

Performing well in game all four sets for the Pride was senior Randi Garrity (Reading, Mass. /Reading Memorial) who led the Pride with a team high of 28 assists. Freshman Sara Gold (North Hollywood, Calif. /Notre Dame) led the Pride in team digs with a tally of 15.

Performing well for the visiting Monks was sophomore Kiah Begley (Berwick, Maine. /Saint Thomas) who had a team high of 27 registered assists. Caitlin Cleary (Scarborough, Maine. /Scarborough)led the Monks in total digs, recording 13 for the game.

The Pride's next matchup is scheduled for Saturday (Oct. 2) at Eastern Nazarene College.
