UNABLE TO WEATHER NOR'EASTERS, PRIDE FALL IN DUAL TCCC MATCH

Weston, Mass.-Facing two Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents, Regis College Women's Volleyball (4-9, 0-2 TCCC) failed to take charge of Colby-Sawyer or weather the storm against the University of New England losing 3-0 in both matches.

Fighting to make the eighth seed to make a run at the CCC championship would not go so easy for the Pride Saturday. Opening its match against the University of New England ended 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-22) with the Pride having only scored over 20 points in one game.

The Nor'easters held Regis College to seven and 10 points in game one and two respectively. Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) led the Pride with just six kills in 24 total attacks.

As a team Regis would only muster 15 kills, ending in a .032 attack percentage. In comparison, UNE had 29 kills, just five errors, and 66 total attacks, an attack percentage of .364. Regis managed 13 errors in three fewer total attacks.

Offensively the Pride could not kill enough attacks to the floor, with UNE picking up 35 digs. The difference appeared to be in the number of errors committed by each team; Regis tallied 32 errors, 13 attack errors, one serving error, and 18 receiving errors.

The Nor'easters marked just 12.

Similar to the match with UNE, Regis found itself on the wrong side of committing errors against Colby-Sawyer. Regis managed 35 errors, but it forced the Chargers to commit 26.

Regis had three fewer kills (12) from its UNE match and four less total attacks (59). Only four Pride members would tally kills, with Melissa Frederique (Manchester, N.H.) managing six kills in 18 total attacks. Gomes would only register three.

Lauren Ross (Dracut, Mass.) gave the Pride its only block solo, while Frederique and Randi Garrity (Reading, Mass.) each registered a block assist.

The Chargers controlled the net, marking 12 block assists. The Pride have some time off before making its next TCCC appearance against Eastern Nazarene College on Sept. 30.
