PRIDE VOLLEYBALL TO HOST BECKER COLLEGE

Weston, Mass.-The Regis College women's volleyball team will host Becker College Friday September 18, 2009 at 7:00 pm.

Last year these two teams squared off, as the Pride would go on and take both matches 3-0.  Regis College, having played in two tournaments in preparation for the season, the Pride look to begin their quest for success beginning Friday night against Becker.

Senior captains Melissa Frederique (Manchester, NH) and Amanda Hoyt (Madison, NH) seek to lead the Pride into victory alongside of sophomores Lauren Ross (Dracut, Mass.) and Domingas Gomes (Brockton, Mass.) who both lead the team in kills.  Meghan McCarty (Billerica, Mass.) leads the team with 36 blocks, and will continue her streak of a little over a block per game.  With the help of Randi Garrity (Reading, Mass.) who leads the team in the assist category, along with a solid bench, the Pride will look to take this one away from the Hawks of Becker College.

After losing four straight, Becker will also be looking to redeem themselves into victory.  Freshmen Julie Trcka (Shleton, Conn.) leads the Hawks with 31 kills and Junior Julie Lantry (Fitchburg, Mass.) leads the team with 29 digs will try to give the Hawks a bit of a boost in Friday's match.  Freshman Theresa Boulier (Eddington, ME) will also be looking to show her strength in the front net, as she leads the team with 19 blocks.

This will be the first game that the Regis College Pride will be playing in front of their home crowd as school is in session.  With the help of some fan support the women's volleyball team will look to walk out of the gym with a victory.
