Ava Hubster Named GNAC WSD Rookie of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - After showing improvement during her third career collegiate competition Saturday against Eastern Connecticut State, first-year swimmer Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, Oct. 23, by the league office.

Hubster picked up the only event victory for the Regis women against Eastern Connecticut State Saturday, winning the 1000 freestyle in 12:37.06, close to six seconds faster than her previous best time in the event two weeks ago. She finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:16.86 as well as third in the 100 butterfly in 1:11.47, also season best times. She swam the third leg of the 200 freestyle relay that finished second with an overall time of 1:56.91.

Hubster becomes the first member of the Regis women's swimming and diving team to receive a GNAC weekly award since Cashman Murphy was named GNAC Rookie of the Week Jan. 24, 2022.

The Regis College swimming and diving team enters a busy weekend, starting with a dual meet at Gordon College Friday, Oct. 27, starting at 6 p.m. The Pride will then participate in the Roger Williams Invitational Saturday, Oct. 28, beginning at 11 a.m.
