Regis Women’s Swim and Dive Led by Regional Qualification, Pool Record

WESTON, Mass. - Senior Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) qualified for the 2022-23 NCAA Diving Regionals and the 800 freestyle relay squad capped off the night with a pool record as Regis College competed against Elms College Friday night at the Regis Pool.

Murphy completed the 11-dive set with a total score of 420.20, the second time this season she surpassed the NCAA qualifying score of 395. She posted a score of 432.45 against Saint Joseph's College Nov. 19, but needed the second score off the same board to earn her spot at the regional competition, the first Regis diver to qualify since now-assistant coach Elisabeth McQuaid accomplished the feat in 2018-19.

The quartet of Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.), Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.), Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.), and Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) capped the meet by combining for a time of 8:52.69 in the 800 freestyle relay, 43/100ths of a second faster than the previous standard set by Lila Williams, Gloria Sutton, Sarah Leonard, and Katherine Mariano Jan. 19, 2019.

Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.) opened the meet with a season-best time of 12:23.57 in the 1000 freestyle, followed by another season-best mark of 6:01.40 in the 500 freestyle. In the 50 backstroke, Roux touched the wall first with a time of 30.62 seconds, just ahead of Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) at 31.12 seconds. Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) posted a time of 2:50.60 in the 200 butterfly.

Luhnau established personal season-best times of 33.99 seconds in the 50 breaststroke and 26.49 seconds in the 50 freestyle, but Roux ended up just ahead of Luhnau by 32/100ths of a second in the 100 freestyle with a personal season-best time of 1:00.16. In the 200 backstroke, Aptt cruised to a victory by nine-and-a-half seconds with a season-best mark of 2:20.23, followed by a collegiate-best time of 28.63 seconds in the 50 butterfly.

The Regis College swimming and diving team concludes the 2022 portion of its schedule at the Bridgewater State Invitational Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 12 p.m.
