Regis Women’s Swim Team Sweeps Double-Dual Meet

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's swim team earned 10 event victories Friday night as it defeated both Saint Joseph's College, 161-77, and UMass Dartmouth, 164-69, in a double-dual collegiate swimming and diving meet at the Regis Pool.

The quartet of Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.), Olivia Luhnau (Castle Rock, Colo.), Jenna Silva (New Bedford, Mass.), and Kali Taylor (Brattleboro, Vt.) opened the meet with a two-second victory in the 200 medley relay in 2:06.71. The Pride continued their winning streak when Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a season-best time of 12:51.76.

Taylor won three individual events once again, starting with a seven-second victory in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:08.26. She then earned a victory in the 50 freestyle by 0.26 seconds with a season-best time of 27.17 seconds and followed that with a convincing victory in the 500 freestyle in 5:52.92, also a season-best mark.

Luhnau also picked up three individual victories, touching the wall first in the 50 breaststroke in a season-best 34.02 seconds, the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.70, a season-best time by two seconds, and the 100 individual medley in 1:07.88, yet another season-best mark for the senior captain.

Aptt picked up the other two victories for the Pride women, finishing first in the 50 backstroke in 32.13 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:10.33.

The Regis men basically competed against themselves, highlighted by a 50 freestyle sprint in which both Aryaman Nagaraj (Watertown, Mass.) and Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) posted season-best times, with Nagaraj winning in 23.57 seconds, followed by Werner in a personal-best 24.32 seconds and Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) in 25.36 seconds.

Josh Dion competed in one-meter diving for the second straight week and improved upon his five-dive score by over nine points with a total score of 119.25. He also led off the 200 medley relay, joining with Kim, Werner, and Nagaraj for an overall time of 1:53.09.

Regis College next hosts the Regis Invitational Dec. 6-7 at the Regis Pool.
