Women’s Swim and Dive Splits Season-Opening Double Dual Meet

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2022-23 season by splitting a double-dual competition, defeating University of Saint Joseph, 182-80, but falling to University of New England, 161-113, Saturday at the Regis Pool.

Olivia Luhnau (Denver, Colo.) picked up the Pride's first overall event victory of the meet, winning the 50 breaststroke by almost two full seconds with a time of 35.24 seconds. Luhnau also won the 100 individual medley in 1:07.72 and finished second overall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.50.

In the 100 backstroke, Regis finished 1-2-4 overall, led by Megan Miller (Quincy, Mass.) with the victory in 1:10.88, followed by Olivia Roux (Sanford, Maine) in second in 1:11.07 and Cecelia Adelfio (Gloucester, Mass.) in fourth with a time of 1:12.56. Roux also finished second in the 50 freestyle in 27.70 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 1:01.28.

Riley Aptt (Woburn, Mass.) won the 50 butterfly with a time of 30.82 seconds after a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle in 12:50.43. Cashman Murphy (Westwood, Mass.) competed in both sessions of one meter diving, posting scores of 156.45 in the five-dive event and 245.65 in the six-dive event.

In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of Roux, Luhnau, Miller, and Davinity Smallwood (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished second by just 45/100ths of a second with a time of 2:04.51. Smallwood also touched the wall second in the 200 freestyle in 2:16.34 and third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:14.56.

Regis College (1-1) heads to Bristol, R.I., next Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Roger Williams Invitational.
